Electrophoretic polymorphism of adenylate kinase in human jejunum

Paired specimens of human red blood cells and jejunal mucosal biopsy specimens have been examined for two enzyme polymorphisms by starch gel electrophoresis. The 24 jejunal specimens showed identical adenylate kinase phenotypes to the red cell samples (21 type AK 1-1 and 3 type AK 2-1). This informa...

Zusammenfassung:Paired specimens of human red blood cells and jejunal mucosal biopsy specimens have been examined for two enzyme polymorphisms by starch gel electrophoresis. The 24 jejunal specimens showed identical adenylate kinase phenotypes to the red cell samples (21 type AK 1-1 and 3 type AK 2-1). This information could be used for surveys of patients with gastrointestinal disorders. Jejunal samples from 12 patients of various acid phosphatase phenotypes all showed identical isoenzyme patterns on starch gel electrophoresis. Consequently, the red cell acid phosphatase polymorphism has not been demonstrated in the jejunum.
