Zusammenfassung:In benign prostates, prostatic acid phosphatase levels were higher in peripheral blood than in bone marrow in simultaneously collected specimens. In metastatic disease these levels were reversed. The increase in prostatic acid phosphatase levels after surgery was much greater in benign than in malignant cases. Clinical implications are discussed.
