Zusammenfassung: | A manganese deficiency was produced in rats easily after partial hepatectomy. In addition to the expected deficiency symptoms, a hypothyroidal condition and a degenerative condition in the kidney were noted. The high-manganese (50 ppm) diet caused manganese toxicity, as evidenced by nervousness, lack of coat luster, underdeveloped testis, and poor growth rate. A hypothyroidal condition was also caused by the high-manganese ration. Partial hepatectomy did not alter the effects upon control animals or those on a highmanganese diet. |
