Immunofluorescence of tracheal secretions in neonatal syphilis

A case of congenital syphilis was diagnosed by aspiration of tracheobronchial secretions and immunofluorescent stain. The value of this microscopic technique for prompt diagnosis of neonatal infection is emphasized.
