Zusammenfassung:The development of the albumin trail in paper protein electrophoresis lias been considered using a variety of experimental states. Using Whatman No. I paper and seeding specimens of volume 0.010 ml the trail is of the order of 9–14% of the total albumin in normal sera. The albumin “carpet” mav convenicntiv be assessed by drawing a horizontal line parallel to the abscissa of scan at a height above the abscissa equal to one third of the height of the minimal trough encountered in the trace of the stained strip. All the area between this line and the abscissa of scan is considered to be due to albumin, the area above this is attributed to the various globulin fractions. This approximation of the albumin trail seems to be a representative assessment whatever the conditions of electrophoresis.
