Zusammenfassung:	A simple method for the determination of homovanillic acid (HVA) in biological samples by the technique of single ion monitoring (mass fragmentography) during gas chromatography-mass spectrometry is described. Iso-homovanillic acid (iso-HVA) and 4-methoxymandelic acid (MMA), two compounds isomeric with HVA, are used as the internal standards. The levels of HVA and iso-HVA were determined by this method in the cerebrospinal fluid of the human and dog.
