Zusammenfassung:Oesophagectomy and replacement with woven Dacron tubing was carried out on 4 pigs. Immediate post-operative results were promising but the prostheses were rejected after periods varying from 27-72 days. It is concluded that the Dacron used does not provoke sufficient tissue response to enable it to become incorporated as a permanent structure and cannot be regarded as suitable material for oesophageal prostheses.
