A Combined Growth-inhibition and Growth-precipitation Test for the Typing of Avian Mycoplasma

A combined growth-inhibition and precipitation test for the typing of avian mycoplasma is described in which the influence of the depth of medium was investigated. For growth inhibition the depth of medium had little effect on the overall width of the inhibitory zones but the zones of complete or almost complete inhibition were wider with the shallower media. For precipitation, which was seen with all reactants except W.R.1, the shallower the medium commensurate with adequate growth, the greater was the number of precipitation bands and the greater the clarity of precipitation.
