Excessive urinary 5-hydroxy-3-indole acetic acid in the absence of a metastatic carcinoid

Considerable interest has been aroused in the dianosis of the malignant carcinoid syndrome and the diagnostic reliability of increased urinary excretion of 5-hydroxy-3-indole acetic acid. The authors present observations important to this problem.
