Zusammenfassung:In 37 examples of pseudomyxoma peritonei with mutinous ovarian and appendicular neoplasms, ovarian minors were bilateral in 15 cases, but peritoneal involvement was often attributable to appendicular disease. In 5 rases, appendicular carcinoma was occult, without mucocele; in at least 3 cases, appendicular perforations were discovered only by histopathologic examination following laparotomy. Even if only occasionally to arrest appendicular carcinoma at in situ stages, appendectomy in patients with ovarian neoplasms is an obvious precaution.
