Zusammenfassung:Dermatoglyphic investigations of both finger and palm prints were carried out in 33 patients with Stein-Leventhal syndrome and in 21 mothers and 12 fathers of these patients. The findings obtained were compared with those of 100 normal men and 100 normal women. Analysis of the results showed evidence that women with Stein-Leventhal syndrome have hand dermatoglyphic characteristics similar to those of normal men. In the mothers examined, no deviation was noted in the hand skin pattern, while the father were found to have both “male” and “female” dermatoglyphic characteristics. These findings support the belief that there is a hereditary origin for Stein-Leventhal syndrome, transmissible from the father.
