Zusammenfassung: | In 201 patients who became pregnant with an intrauterine device (IUD) in situ a study was made to determine the comparative effects on pregnancy* outcome of removing the IUD or leaving it in the uterus. Among those in whom the device was left in situ, 48.44% aborted as compared with 29.62% from whom the IUD had been removed. The incidence of subsequent abortion was significantly higher (P 0.02 > 0.01) in the group in which the IUD was left in place. These data suggest that when continuation of the pregnancy is desired, the IUD should be removed |
