Zusammenfassung:WE do not disagree with the data of Smith et al. 1 . They were kind enough to send us their serum samples and allow us to repeat our procedure as previously described 2 . The samples obtained from Minneapolis showed no consistent differences when analysed in our laboratory. We continued our study with samples obtained from Nashville, Lexington and Tulsa, and detected a clear increase in serum protein calcium binding both in CF patients and heterozygotes 3 .
