Zusammenfassung:AN increase in the number of mast cells has been reported in the thymus, spleen and bone marrow of mice exposed to long-continued gamma irradiation 1 . Hypoplasia of the bone marrow has been reported in animals and man following the administration of radioactive colloidal gold (gold-198) 2 , but no reference is made to any change in the mast cells. In the course of an investigation of the general histo-pathological effects of colloidal gold-198 administered to rats, we have found an increase in the mast cell population of the bone marrow.
