Sexual precocity attributable to ectopic gonadotropin secretion by hepatoblastoma

Described here is a male child with sexual precocity attributable to the secretion of an ectopic gonadotropin by an hepatoblastoma. The interstitial cell stimulating properties of the ectopic gonadotropin are shown by biologic neutralization tests to correspond more closely to those of human pituitary interstitial cell stimulating hormone than to those of human chorionic gonadotropin. The clinical and pathologic features in this case are compared with those of the 10 other known cases, and the pathologic physiology is discussed.
