Thyroxine and succinate oxidation

1. 1. Thyroxine preserves the activity of succinate-cytochrome c reductase activity in preparations from rat heart homogenate, but does not increase the original activity. 2. 2. The preservation appears to be a chemical rather than physical effect. 3. 3. At least one site of action is in the succini...

Zusammenfassung:1. 1. Thyroxine preserves the activity of succinate-cytochrome c reductase activity in preparations from rat heart homogenate, but does not increase the original activity. 2. 2. The preservation appears to be a chemical rather than physical effect. 3. 3. At least one site of action is in the succinic dehydrogenase complex where sulfhydryl groups are protected from oxidation.
