Zusammenfassung: | Curettage, especially during the postpartum or postabortal period, results not infrequently in adhesions of the uterine wall, adhesions which can cause in extreme cases complete disappearance of the uterine, cervical, and isthmic cavities.
These adhesions are responsible for a very large number of the cases of hypomenorrhea. The clinical picture in these cases is characteristic enough to suspect the cause; hysterometry shows their existence; and hysterography makes the diagnosis certain, at the same time giving us precise information as to the extent and anatomical type of the adhesions.
Applying this method of investigation to patients with menstrual insufficiency, we were helped in ascertaining the frequency of cases of synechiae not suspected before.
The endocrinologist must take this diagnosis into consideration and can no longer ignore this lesion. |
