Methods for on-line oscillographic display of spike frequency data

A device is described which adds or integrates the output of a Schmitt-trigger and permits the direct visualization of pulse rates up to 1000 per sec using a mechanical oscillograph run at relatively slow paper speeds. Techniques are described for monitoring the number of pulses emitted during predetermined epochs, and for making exact comparisons of moment-to-moment changes in pulse rate with respect to other variables.
