Zusammenfassung:The oral administration of indomethacin to patients undergoing hypertonic saline-induced mid-trimester abortion prolonged significantly (p < 0.001) the induction/abortion time interval when compared to control patients receiving no medication. Since prostaglandins are intimately associated with the abortion and birth processes and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory aspirin-like drugs suppress prostaglandin biosynthesis, the mechanism by which hypertonic saline-induced abortion occurs is suggested.
