Zusammenfassung:Eels were adapted to black or white backgrounds or to distilled water or sea water, to induce different states of cellular granulation in the pars intermedia. The MSH content of half the pars intermedia was assayed, using the Anolis skin method, and compared with the cytological appearance of the opposite half. There is a good correlation between the MSH content with the abundance of granulation of the PbH cells, but no correlation with the granulation of the PAS cells.
