Zusammenfassung: | In an investigation of Ehrlich mouse ascites cancer in female hamsters, in which the cancer was transmitted at three-day intervals through three series of female hamsters, the following observations were made.
1.
1. In two series the cancer showed good vitality through thirty-four and twenty-one passages, respectively, and could apparently have been carried through an unlimited number of female hamsters. In the third series the cancer was carried through eleven female passages: it was then transferred to a male hamster and died during the subsequent male passage.
2.
2. The cancer cells tolerated the serial transmission through
female hamsters much better than they did in an earlier investigation on
males, in which the yield of cancer cells successively decreased and the cancer survived only a few passages. |
