Zusammenfassung:Cytology and biopsy are essential for accurate diagnosis of cancer in the gastrointestinal tract. A combination of washing, brushing, and biopsy technics yielded positive diagnoses in 100% of cases of cancer of the esophagus, 93% in stomach cancer, and 100% in cancer of the colon. In the stomach, washing was superior, but in both the esophagus and colon, brushing technics were more accurate.
