Chromosomal Aberrations Induced by N-Methyl-N'-Nitro-N-Nitrosoguanidine in Mammalian Cells

Populations of a heteroploid Chinese hamster cell line were exposed to single and multiple doses of N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) and examined for chromosomal aberrations. Cells exposed to 0.5 µg per ml MNNG did not differ significantly from those exposed to 1.0 µg per ml MNNG in...

Zusammenfassung:Populations of a heteroploid Chinese hamster cell line were exposed to single and multiple doses of N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) and examined for chromosomal aberrations. Cells exposed to 0.5 µg per ml MNNG did not differ significantly from those exposed to 1.0 µg per ml MNNG in terms of the types or frequencies of aberrations induced, and one exposure to MNNG appeared to be as effective as three sequential exposures. Complex, chromosome-type aberrations were found in 12 to 28% of all examined MNNG-treated cells.
