Zusammenfassung:1. 1. Cholesterol labeled by admixture with cholesterol-4-C 14 was injected intravenously into rats, and the specific activity of total cholesterol isolated from plasma was determined at various intervals from 18 to 90 hr. after the injections. 2. 2. The specific activity-time curves for total cholesterol isolated from plasma of normal rats were straight lines when plotted on semilogarithmic paper. Following exclusion of the liver from the circulation, the turnover of total cholesterol isolated from plasma ceased abruptly. The significance of this finding is discussed. 3. 3. The turnover time for total cholesterol isolated from plasma was about 60 hr. The significance of this finding is also discussed.
