Glycolysis: A re-evaluation of the effect on blood glucose
Glycolysis causes considerable errors in blood glucose measurements if some preservative is not included in the blood collection tube. Errors up to 24% can be expected in a routine laboratory if serum is substituted for preserved plasma as the specimen for analysis. Several inorganic fluorides are i...

Zusammenfassung: | Glycolysis causes considerable errors in blood glucose measurements if some preservative is not included in the blood collection tube. Errors up to 24% can be expected in a routine laboratory if serum is substituted for preserved plasma as the specimen for analysis.
Several inorganic fluorides are inhibitors of glycolysis, and the two which appear to be most compatible with present day laboratory automation systems are sodium fluoride and ammonium fluoride. |
