Zusammenfassung:1. 1. Under the conditions of culture described, E. histolytica appears to require diffusible phosphate and perhaps a low molecular weight organic intermediate for growth. 2. 2. The concentration of inorganic phosphorus required for growth of E. histolytica under these conditions lies in the region between M 10 and M 19 . 3. 3. A possible explanation of why the amebae failed to grow in some of the media tested is discussed.
