A new genus of trombiculine chiggers (Acari: Trombiculidae) from western North America [Dermadelema]

A new genus, Dermadelema , is proposed, consisting of the type-species, Euschoengastia furmani (= Euschoengastoides sloomi , new synonymy), and 3 new species: Dermadelema mojavense , n.sp., holotype from Kern Co., California (type-host Dopodomys panamintinus ); D. sleeperi, n.sp., holotype from Sonora, Mexico (type-host Dipodomys merriami; and D. lynnae , n.sp., holotype from San Bernardino Co., California (type-host Dipodomys merriami ). The genus occurs throughout the south western United States and northwestern Mexico.
