Although it is possible that the differing experiences reported by various investigators may reflect true demographic differences in the patient populations studied, a careful reading of the literature suggests that this disagreement may be based in large part on the diagnostic criteria and conditions of study peculiar to individual investigators. Using rather stringent criteria for patient selection, we observed an increase in the plasma concentration of 1,25-(OH)
