Zusammenfassung:	A quantitative pilot study assessed the absolute amounts and range of dietary intake of lysine (a herpes virus (HV) inhibitor) and arginine (an HV promoter) in 17 HV patients and 15 age- and sex-matched controls. No differences in intakes of either amino acid were found between the 2 groups. The intake data are summarized and the implication of these findings for accurate lysine therapy of HV is discussed.(wz)
