Zusammenfassung:In the authors' plan for clarification of the interactions between the septum and hippocampus the study of the activity of the hippocampal neurons on basal undercutting of the septum ("basally deafferented hippocampus," BH) is of interest. In contrast to their previous experiments (separation of the hippocampus from the septum), under these conditions the direct influences of the neurons of the septum on the hippocampus are retained, but both the direct influences and those of the brain stem structures changed over to the septum are removed. Such a variant of the investigation allows distinguishing the septal influences from the heterogenic effects of the reticulo-septal pathway.
