Zusammenfassung:Development of new antifungal agents has increased significantly over the past two decades, with recent advances reflecting interest in synthetic agents as opposed to antibiotics. We review the various antifungal medications in use or under development, beginning with a discussion of over-the-counter agents, antibiotics, and older azole compounds and ending with an evaluation of newer azoles and the new class of antifungals, the allylamines.
