Zusammenfassung: | Beagle dogs were evaluated as a possible model for the preliminary evaluation of nondisintegrating sustained-release tablets. A quantitative comparison of the rate and extent of absorption of the drug from sustained- and nonsustained-release dosage forms in man and dog was obtained. The data suggest that the dog is a satisfactory model to screen dosage forms for possible human testing. The specific limitations of the model are discussed. |
