Stabilization of serum albumin by anti-inflammatory drugs

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents inhibited the heat denaturation of serum albumin at drug levels betow 1 mM, as measured by turbidity and viscosity changes. The immunosuppressive, antihistamine, anticholinergic and antimalarial drugs tested did not show this property. Active drugs did not block denaturation induced by alkali, detergents or guanidine, nor did they generally inhibit the denaturation of ovalbumin, fibrinogen, γ-globulin or collagen.
