Zusammenfassung:The Social Readjustment Rating Questionnaire was administered to French, Belgian and Swiss samples via a French language translation. A very high concordance between all Europeans was observed ( r s = 0·3, 0·96). A composite European sample ( N = 139) was compared with a corresponding American sample ( N = 195). A high correlation of relative rank ordering of readjustment required by life events was observed ( r S = 0·89), but differences in cultures and living conditions were reflected in SRRS obtained.
