Nucleotide sequence of a cDNA encoding the putative trypsin inhibitor in potato tuber

We established a cDNA library from in vitro tubers (cv. Irish Cobbler), and a tuber specific cDNA clone, pT1, was isolated by differential screening with the mRNA from leaves. The pT1 consists of a 796 bp insert (except poly(A)tail), with an open reading frame sufficient to encode a protein of 222 amino acids (molecular mass of 24.7 kDa), and contains a tentative N-terminal methionine, suggesting an almost full-length copy.
