Zusammenfassung:	We investigated the change in the proportion of several kinds of gastric epitherial cells by a longterm administration of 16, 16-dimethyl prostaglandin E2 in rats. The increase in the number of mucus secreting cells and the decrease in the number of parietal cells were observed in rats received 16, 16-dimethyl prostaglandin E2 for 2 and 10 weeks, suggesting that a long-term administration of the compound exerts a gastric protective effect through altering the proportion of gastric epithelial cells.
