Zusammenfassung: | The Midwest opens roads to rich adventures in living and sound managerial careers. At St. Mary's Hospital (Decatur, Illinois), tuition reimbursement and supportive work schedules mean having more registered nurses (RN) and keeping valued employees. RN employees previously on disabled status are proving themselves a valuable source of nursing competencies at William Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak, Michigan). A limited duty job description involves these nurses in documenting admission, patient teaching, transfer, and discharge on the medical units. A nursing summer camp was held for 8th, 9th, and 10th graders at Indiana's Valparaiso University in order to entice talented young people to become nurses. At La Crosse Lutheran Hospital (La Crosse, Wisconsin), self-paced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) learners produced a 6.9 mean skill retention score after 3 months. A graduate study at the hospital indicated that a comparable instructor-trained group demonstrated a significantly lower 3.1 score at the end of the same period. |
