Zusammenfassung:	Tuberculosis of the posterior spinal elements is rare but has a high incidence of neurological morbidity and can cause diagnostic confusion. A case is reported in which the most prominent radiological feature was destruction of the lateral aspects of the vertebral bodies. The cause of this appearance is discussed with reference to previous descriptions of this condition.
