Zusammenfassung:The two heads of the gastrocnemius muscle are easily mobilized and very dependable. It is our first choice for local muscle transpositions in and about the knee. Thirty-four consecutive gastrocnemius muscle flaps performed on one service are evaluated. Seven maneuvers and some technical points are presented and illustrated to enable the surgeon to get the most possible use of these two reliable structures.
