Zusammenfassung: | The standard diet recommended for boarding school children, its provision of daily nutrients relative to WHO recommendations, and the "effective" protein intake implied by this diet, are discussed. Relative to WHO recommendations, this diet offers high levels of protein, ascorbic acid, niacin, folic acid, vitamin B12, calcium, iron, and vitamin E; it is adequate for a number of other nutrients, but it is low in vitamin A, vitamin D, riboflavin, and zinc. Specific food supplements needed to correct deficient nutrients are suggested. (wz) |
