Zusammenfassung:	Monoclonal antibody directed against a lethal factor (PLF) of Portuguese man-o'war ( Physalia physalis) nematocyst venom cross-reacted with a component of oriental hornet ( Vespa orientalis) venom in an ELISA. Using immobilized PLF monoclonal antibody, a protein fraction was eluted which was lethal to mice. This fraction (VOLF) contains a major component of molecular weight about 43,000, in addition to several minor components.
