Zusammenfassung:Extract: A direct mail nutrition education program, designed to promote interaction among family members and between the family and nutritionists conducting the program, was developed and tested with 204 young families. The communication strategy resulted in the desired interaction, particularly within the family. Attention paid to the messages was good. Nutrition knowledge and food practices improved immediately after completion of the program. The results indicate that mass-mediated programs may be improved by the incorporation of characteristics of interpersonal communication--in this case interaction. (author)
