Zusammenfassung:Using a sensitive immunoperoxidase stain, unconcentrated cerebrospinal fluid specimens from 31 patients were analysed for oligoclonal immunoglobulin M (IgM) by agarose isoelectric focusing. Samples from 14 out of 19 patients with multiple sclerosis contained oligoclonal IgM. Oligoclonal IgM was also found in one case of active neurosyphilis, but not in 3 patients with treated syphilis and not in 9 patients with other neurological disorders.
