Uterine Leiomyomata Discrepancy Between Scintigraphic and Radiographic Images

Extraosseous accumulation of the Tc-99m labeled bone imaging agents occurs in a variety of conditions, including metabolic, traumatic, vascular, and neoplastic (benign and malignant). Uptake of these agents in uterine leiomyomata with radiographic evidence of calcification has been described. This tumor was identified on bone scintigraphy performed on a woman in whom standard pelvic radiographs were not diagnostic.
