Zusammenfassung: | Evaluates findings from published and unpublished studies using psychological intervention with the coronary-prone, Type A behavioral pattern. Brief descriptions are provided on the definition of Type A behaviors, their association with cardiovascular disease, methods of assessment, and physiological correlates. The major objective of the review is to present current research findings with healthy Type A persons and coronary heart disease (CHD) Type A patients. Outcomes are described, including changes in Type A behaviors, CHD recurrence, and physiological and stress data. Methodological issues, such as screening and outcome measures, selection of persons and targets for intervention, and methods of intervention, are discussed along with recommendations for future research.
