Zusammenfassung: | Hypoglycaemia was detected in 4 of 9 pregnant women with falciparum malaria admitted to Gedaref Hospital in eastern Sudan. The patients presented with symptoms and signs of malaria, but all were conscious and without neurological manifestations. Some of the patients had received chloroquine before admission, but none had received quinine. Foetal distress was not detectable in any of them. All patients received treatment in the form of intravenous quinine, and were ultimately discharged after complete recovery. Further follow-up was not possible. |
