Zusammenfassung: | Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory demyelinating illness that can affect any aspect of the central nervous system, including the cranial nerves. Asghar-Ali et al present two cases of patients who were admitted to acute psychiatric inpatient units for new-onset manic behavior without any physical findings. After receiving a comprehensive workup that included a psychiatric assessment, brain imaging, laboratory studies, lumbar punctures, and neuropsychological testing, the two patients were both diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. |
