Zusammenfassung: | Bone marrow transplantation is now highly successful, and the number of individuals so treated is growing. Attention now needs to be directed to the effects of such treatment on long-term morbidity. Osteoporosis is one such problem for which bone marrow transplant recipients may be at increased risk. We studied bone density at the lumbar spine and femoral neck in a group of subjects following allogeneic bone marrow transplantation to establish whether in fact bone mineral density was reduced.
