Zusammenfassung:A device for applying mechanical massage to the isolated perfused rat heart inside a wide‐bore NMR spectrometer was developed. This device exerts a squeezing pressure on a fibrillating heart placed inside a NMR spectrometer without interfering with the NMR measurements. It appears that the apparatus is important for obtaining reliable results in the postischemic reperfusion period. © 1990 Academic Press, Inc.
