Zusammenfassung:	Seven hundred thirty-nine patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma have been treated by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization using gelatin sponge particles soaked in a solution of Mitomycin C and Adriamycin. This therapy can be equal or superior to surgical resection and serves both as embolic therapy and targeted chemotherapy.
